Yesterday, Hurricane Zeta made landfall and hit the Mississippi Gulf Coast hard .

Sadly, this Category 2 storm has done some real damage. It has taken one life, injured multiple Mississippians, destroyed homes and businesses, and left more than 220,000 people without power.

It’s times like these where it’s crucial for us to come together and lend a helping hand to our neighbors so they can rise up and rebuild.

When Hurricane Katrina made landfall 15 years ago, my daughter Jamilla and I went to the Coast to help. We witnessed the devastation firsthand. Hundreds of Mississippians died, and thousands more were displaced — hurting Black and underserved communities most of all.

But we also saw how Americans came together, in desperate times of need, to help one another. I know we must do that again in 2020.

That’s why I’m asking for your support for Hurricane Zeta relief now. Remember: We can pray for change, but we also have to work for it.

Can you rush a contribution of any amount to the United Way of Southern Mississippi right now to provide hurricane relief to impacted Mississippians? [[link removed]]

Thanks for anything you can give to help those affected.
