John,
Trump wants to bully and cheat his way into another four years in office. But we’re not going to let him.
If Trump tries to stop votes from being counted, declares victory before all the votes are tallied, makes unfounded claims that the election was “stolen,” or otherwise threatens the integrity of the election or the peaceful transition of power, then we have to Protect the Results. We are joining a coalition of voters who are ready to mobilize if Trump loses and refuses to accept the results of the 2020 presidential election.
A functioning democracy enables us to make positive change on the issues we care about — like addressing climate change and factory farms, protecting clean air and water, and ending the use of fossil fuels — so we have to do everything we can to protect it. Can you plan on joining us in defending democracy on November 4th?

From September 23, 2020 news conference:
Q. “Will you commit to making sure that there is a peaceful transferral of power after the election?”
A. "Well, we're going to have to see what happens. You know that. I've been complaining very strongly about the ballots. And the ballots are a disaster ... We want to have -- get rid of the ballots and you'll have a very trans- -- we'll have a very peaceful -- there won't be a transfer, frankly; there'll be a continuation. The ballots are out of control. You know it.” — Donald Trump

We cannot ignore the threat that Trump poses to our democracy and a peaceful transition. Over the last four years, he has routinely ignored and chipped away at democratic norms and institutions. Our democracy is too important to simply trust that Trump and his enablers will respect the precedent of all previous elections.
That’s why we are taking this threat seriously, and Food & Water Action is joining with more than 140 organizations to ensure every vote is counted and that the people's choice is peacefully inaugurated in January. We've got a plan, and we need you on board.
We may not have all of the results on election night. But regardless of the results at that point, we will take to the streets by the millions across the country on November 4th to protect the integrity of the election and make clear our commitment to democracy.
Will you join people across the U.S. to demand that every vote is counted?
There are nearly 400 Protect the Results events nationwide: Find an event near you or sign up to host an event.

Together, we'll be ready to publicly demand that every vote gets counted, even if it takes days or weeks to get an accurate count from critical states — especially given the expansion of mail-in and absentee voting during the COVID-19 pandemic. We'll do everything we can to organize and ensure that Congress, the Electoral College and state officials honor the accurate, final vote count — because every voter's voice must be heard.
Onward together,
Wenonah Hauter
Founder and Executive Director
Food & Water Action
P.S. If many of us take to the streets on November 4th, please continue to take all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Wear a mask, wash your hands thoroughly and frequently, and avoid crowded indoor events. Together, we can protect both our health and our democracy.
