Follow Us on Social President's Message Halloween is this weekend, but with COVID-19, it is going to be a very different holiday than in years past. However, we as school nurses should be aware that even in the best of years, Halloween is not always a happy occasion for every student school nurses come in contact with -- and can be a triggering event. The National Center for School Crisis and Bereavement reminds us that grieving students may have a more difficult time around holidays because "triggers, sudden reminders of the person who died that cause powerful emotional responses, can be unsettling for grieving students. Often, by anticipating triggers, education professionals can help minimize their effect." You can find more information on the organization's website to help you support grieving students better.
