Hi John,
Run for Something's work doesn't stop after Election Day. In fact, it's just the opposite.
After 2020, our mission to elect young, diverse progressives to down-ballot offices nationwide becomes even more urgent.
We need to ensure that we prevent a repeat of 2008-2016 -- when Democrats lost over 1,000 state and federal seats due to our neglected party infrastructure.
One of my biggest fears after Election Day is that if we win, grassroots donors and activists will relax and check out. Or, even worse, we lose and folks are too demoralized and exhausted to keep fighting for the change we desperately need in America.
But here's what I know after all my time in campaigns: Fear doesn't get shit done. Determination, hope, and showing up even when it's hard are how we win.
We need to keep showing up because the future of our country is on the ballot every time there's an election, not just every four years.
That's why we need to close our outstanding $130,000 budget gap -- so that we can keep racking up the wins even when the headlines have moved on.
We don't need to raise it all this month, but we do need to make a dent. Can you make a grassroots donation of $5 before Saturday to help chip away at the gap?
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Here's what happens if we can't keep working as hard as we have been:
Republicans will win state and local elections en masse just like they did in 2010. They'll hold onto a powerful infrastructure that cultivates candidates for Congress, governorships, and even the presidency -- all in Trump's likeness, even if he's no longer on the ballot.
And while they're building the bench, they'll pass laws that restrict reproductive justice, they'll do nothing to advance racial equality, and they'll fuck over working people even more.
We can't let that happen and more importantly, we CAN stop it from happening: by electing young, diverse progressives to down-ballot races every single time ballots are cast. Can you chip in $5 to help close our fundraising gap before it's too late?
Thanks,
Amanda Litman
