$22.44.
That's the average online grassroots donation to our campaign.
It's $5 here from a college kid who's worried about repaying his student loans and $40 there from a working mom whose job got a lot harder this year and needs extra support.
Here's what it isn't: Corporate PAC or lobbyist dollars trying to buy my loyalty so I'll vote for their interests in Congress.
Unlike my opponent, I'll never sell out to special-interest donors -- it might make fundraising easier, but it's the wrong way to win this race.
Mike's corporate donors gave him a big fundraising advantage in the last quarter -- he posted a haul double what we raised. Now, we need to raise $500,000 over the month of October to have the resources we need to compete in the final days of this race.
John can you pitch in $5 -- or $22.44! -- to hit our target and close this fundraising gap?

Despite Mike's powerful backers, ratings site FiveThirtyEight calls our race one of the closest House races in the nation -- and our latest poll has us up by two points.
That's a huge testament to the power grassroots supporters can wield in our politics -- because our elections should be decided by who has the people on their side, not who can cash in the most checks from corporate PACs.
But the truth is, money does play a role. More money means more ads up on TV making sure Democrats are energized about this election -- or responding to Mike's attacks. More money means more resources for our virtual field team. More money means more calls reminding CA-25 voters to turn in their ballots.
John, I'm proud that people like you are the power behind this campaign. And I need to ask you to support us right now because it's absolutely essential that we meet our $500,000 monthly goal. At last check, we were still $138,442 short. Please, chip in $5, or whatever you're able, right now.
