The end of the year is upon us, and as is often the case, the closing of the calendar year for the dawning of the new invites the opportunity for contemplation, especially about legacy. For Migrant Clinicians Network, 2020 marks another year of delivering tremendous accomplishments. From the shores of Puerto Rico to the valleys of California, this rotation around the sun meant another banner year of providing support to frontline clinicians with practical solutions in the interest of health justice. But this was also a year marked by challenges, the likes of which have not been seen in our 35 years of operation. The eruption of the global pandemic showcased the consequences of a world divided, especially among the same vulnerable populations our organization has always worked to support.

This left MCN uniquely positioned to be proactive in conversations about public health, and implementing programs focusing on collaborative prevention across countless projects and initiatives. Amid the fear and confusion, we have continued to work for hope and change.

Our #HeroesOnTheFrontline campaign is a recognition of the incredible work we have done throughout the year—of the efforts undertaken to support these modern-day heroes in their work to prevent problems from becoming permanent. Our work is changemaking, systemic, and crucial to developing the opportunities to change the world.
