Hi ,

Our new research has exposed how some dying people are being forced to endure
unbelievable suffering at the end of life.

This will continue to happen despite the best efforts of wonderful hospices
across the country. It will continue to happen despite the care and compassion
of palliative care nurses and doctors. It will continue to happen because the
law refuses people in this position the right to relieve their suffering through
an assisted death should that be their wish.

As part of this research, we released a video which has ruffled some feathers -
we're on the BBC News website
[[link removed]] . Just to warn that some viewers may find it upsetting.

Some doctors are saying this isn't how people die, but we know that's not true.
The public response to the report and the film has been positive because people
want to see the experiences of their loved ones being acknowledged.

By its very nature releasing a provocative film will prompt a range of
reactions, but if it encourages people to engage with the issues that lie at the
heart of our campaign then we will not apologise for that.

We know that hospices provide the best possible care for dying people, which is
why we are calling for dying people to have both universal access to specialist
palliative care and the choice of a safeguarded assisted death.

People deserve the truth.

For years, stories of people travelling abroad to Dignitas or suffering at home
under the current law have been met with silence.

If it takes one video to prompt discussions, then so be it.

What’s your truth about dying?

We welcome your thoughts, and as ever thank you for your support.

Best wishes,

Zach Moss,

Dignity in Dying
