Dear Friend, |
There are fewer than 300 wolverines left in the lower 48 states, and climate change is wreaking havoc on their habitat. They need all the help they can get. |
Unfortunately, the United States Fish and Wildlife Service doesn’t agree. The Service recently denied wolverines protections under the Endangered Species Act that could prevent the species from going extinct. |
Earthjustice and our partners know that we must act now. With support from people like you, my colleagues and I have worked for decades to protect endangered wildlife, and this time is no different. We will fight this reckless decision in court. |
Will you consider making a gift today to help us take on the legal battles ahead? |
Wolverines once roamed across much of the United States, but after more than a century of trapping and habitat loss, wolverines in the Lower 48 today exist only as small, fragmented populations in Idaho, Montana, Washington, Wyoming, and northeast Oregon. |
In the few remaining places where wolverines live, the species is at direct risk from climate change. Wolverines depend on areas with deep snow through late spring, since pregnant females dig their dens into this snowpack to birth and raise their young. Snowpack is already in decline in the western mountains, a trend that is predicted to worsen with a warming climate. |
This case is just one of the hundreds of active legal battles Earthjustice attorneys are fighting right now. Whether it’s protecting wildlife, defending clean air and water, or combatting the climate crisis, Earthjustice attorneys are using the power of the law to ensure a healthy, livable planet for all. |
Give today and help us see these fights through until the end. Now is the time. |
Thank you for your support. |
