John ,

Since the very beginning, I have made calls for a complete overhaul of Oklahoma’s criminal code. But SQ 805 will gridlock our efforts and will fail all 4 million Oklahomans counting on meaningful reform.

In my first year in office, we got significant legislation passed that resulted in the nation’s largest commutation releasing low-level offenders. More than 450 Oklahomans received a second chance.

We also have a Task Force underway of Oklahomans across the state working on a plan to reform our criminal code and to continue our progress of keeping our communities safe while also giving non-violent offenders a second chance.

SQ 805 will set our efforts back a generation. SQ 805 will enshrine into our State Constitution language for “non-violent” that includes criminal activity such as:

  • Domestic violence committed in front of child
  • Domestic violence against a pregnant woman
  • Strangulation
  • Transmission of child pornography
  • Burglary (2nd degree)
  • DUI causing great bodily injury
  • Indecent exposure, and hundreds more.

Friends, SQ 805 is not criminal justice reform. SQ 805 will let habitual criminals be treated like it’s their very first crime, over and over again. It is a veiled effort by the ACLU and Hollywood elites to put their liberal agenda into our State Constitution. It will handcuff our ability to keep Oklahoma safe.

Watch and share these powerful testimonies below. And please help spread the word to vote NO on SQ 805.

Oklahoma City Policy Chief Wade Gourley and colleagues
