Dear John,

Exclusive polling reveals the public think this government has broken their promise.

Two-thirds say the government has ‘failed’ in EU negotiations, while 57% think a breakdown of talks would be the UK's fault, according to our new polling.

Brits also believed the Brexit transition period ending without a deal in place would have a negative impact on our economy, our international standing, and their personal finances.

Is it any wonder Brits feel they gave been failed? Boris Johnson promised an ‘oven-ready’ deal which would help Britain. The government was elected on that promise. But his reckless tactics have brought us closer to no deal and has put businesses and livelihoods on the line.

You can read a full breakdown of our polling here.

Best for Britain has sent tens of thousands of emails to MPs with our research on a no deal impact, and nearly twenty thousand directly to Boris Johnson calling on him to reach a deal. We have just weeks left. Join the thousands of people who’ve sent a message to the Prime Minister and call on him to deliver the deal we were promised. Send your message now.

Two-thirds (65%) say the government has ‘generally failed’ in EU negotiations, and most think a breakdown of talks would be the UK's fault. Almost half of Conservative voters (44%) agree the government had failed in negotiations. Amongst young people in London and Scotland, this figure rose to three quarters.

Most Brits (56%) and around a third of Conservative voters (30%) thought a no deal exit would be bad for their finances and the UK economy, while only 3% thought it would be beneficial.

We’ve seen few meaningful breakthroughs and a lot of posturing and brinkmanship from the UK. The clock is ticking. We have entered the final and most intense stage of negotiations. Now is the time to compromise and co-operate to reach a deal.

The public recognise a no deal represents a failure of leadership and a broken promise to the British people. Best for Britain has already sent thousands of messages to MPs, warning them about the impact of a no deal. Put the pressure on Boris Johnson, and tell him to strike a deal with the EU. Send a message now.

The British people need a deal and they want a deal. With time running out and the economy already on its knees, the public wants a deal signed as soon as possible.

They haven’t forgotten what they were promised in 2019, and they will place the blame squarely on the PM and his government if a deal is not delivered.

Best wishes,

Naomi Smith,
CEO, Best for Britain
