Since the start of the pandemic, we know that at least 42% of families we helped have been negatively impacted by COVID-19.

Hi,

A pregnant mum who has been severely impacted by the pandemic needs your help.

Jessica is 31 years old and has a 7 year old son with autism and another baby due in the new year.

Back in March as COVID-19 hit Australia, Jessica’s landlord forced them to move out of the home they felt comfortable and safe in. They were stranded and their only option was to move into a hotel.

On top of all of this stress, Jessica’s two jobs came to a halt.

Jessica and her partner have struggled to make ends meet and they’re really worried about how they’ll purchase a pram, cot, car seat and other essentials for the baby.

Will you please donate today [[link removed]] so we can get Jessica everything she needs for her baby? She has little support from family and friends meaning Jessica’s social worker has requested 27 items including a cot, car seat and pram.

Thankfully two months ago, the family were able to move out of the hotel and into a house again. Jessica said she has done her best to “try to take the positives out of the negatives” and one of those is that she is pregnant again and due in the new year.

She really wants 2021 to be a fresh start.

Since the start of the pandemic, we know that at least 42% of families supported by Geelong Mums have been negatively affected by COVID-19. Job loss, homelessness and an increase in domestic violence are just a few of the causes of disadvantage these families are dealing with right now.

We are preparing for the avalanche of need that will come in the next few months.

This year will go down in history as one filled with heartache, social isolation and loneliness. But also one filled with resilience, compassion, care and love. Please show Jessica and her family how much you care by donating to our Christmas Appeal today [[link removed]].

Warm regards,

Julia
