I wasn’t expecting to have to reach out to you again today, but we got some news that I just had to share. The nonpartisan election forecasters at Inside Elections just upgraded our race from TOSS-UP to TILT DEMOCRAT!

For Missouri’s 2nd Congressional District, once a safe Republican seat, this is truly historic. We have not sent a Democrat to Congress from Missouri’s 2nd district in more than two decades. Our opponent, just four years ago, won this seat by a margin of more than 20 points. These chances don’t come around very often.

But I want to be clear: This does not mean this race is won. Far from it. Many forecasters still consider our race a pure toss-up. There are millions of dollars up on TV right now from Ann Wagner and her special-interest backers relentlessly attacking me and my record, and they clearly have no plans of stopping before Election Day.

Look, I’ll be honest: Given how much outside money has poured into the district, we’re having a hard time keeping up. If we pull back, we risk sending another inaccessible, unaccountable, anti-choice, anti-health care, partisan rubber-stamp back to Congress.

I know we ask a lot of you, Friend, but could you help us out so we can finish this race strong and flip MO-02 blue?
