A message from Senator Thom Tillis

Friends,

Since March, I have worked to keep North Carolinians updated on the federal government’s response to COVID-19. Last week, I completed my 70th telephone town hall, talking with hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians from all over our great state.

During my telephone town halls, I listened to your concerns and answered hundreds of questions regarding COVID-19 economic relief, symptoms, and mitigation plans to protect every North Carolinian, including the most vulnerable.

While we have learned critical ways to fight against COVID-19, we still have a long way to go. A safe and effective vaccine will be key to mitigating the threat for everyone, which is why I have supported vaccine research and accessibility. The research has been promising and I am hopeful we will have a vaccine soon.

For those who have recovered from COVID-19, like me, I would encourage you to join me to defeat this virus. I’m proud to be enrolled in two antibody studies and am scheduled to donate plasma to help however I can to save lives and end COVID-19. I hope you’ll consider doing the same.

As a reminder, NC 2-1-1 is a valuable resource for questions surrounding COVID-19 symptoms, testing locations, and health resources available to you locally. NC 2-1-1 operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You should only call 9-1-1 if you are experiencing an emergency. Additionally, testing is free at state centers and covered by most private insurance as well.

Don’t let your guard down - wear a mask, wash your hands, and practice social distancing. Wearing a facial covering is a visible sign of courtesy and respect for others. While facial coverings can help protect you from contracting the virus, they are especially effective at protecting those around you from being exposed if you have COVID-19. This is crucial particularly as we head deeper into cold and flu season.

I will continue working hard to ensure our state meets the challenge of protecting the health of all North Carolinians.

Thank you for reading, and as always please reach out to my office if you have any questions or need help with a federal agency. God bless and please stay safe.

All the best,
