John,

With less than a week until ballots are counted, I wanted to take this opportunity to reflect on where we started and how far we’ve come.

In 2018 we did the seemingly impossible when we flipped CA-49 from red to blue. This district was long known as a GOP stronghold, but we got organized, remained committed, and made history.

Ever since, I’ve been able to fight on behalf of my constituents -- passing bills (most with bipartisan support) to solve our climate crisis, support our veterans, and get us out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

There’s no telling where we’d be if Darrell Issa had stuck around and won. But I do know it’s been the honor of my life being the fighter that this community deserves in Congress, and that’s thanks to you.

Here’s the hard truth: CA-49 is still considered winnable territory for National Republicans. I’m still one of their top targets for 2020, and that’s why our campaign can’t take anything for granted.

My opponent knows this and recently self-funded another six-figure attack ad on TV. These attacks may not be honest, but they’re well funded, and there’s just too much at stake to leave them unchecked:

John, if you’re able, would you chip in to support my campaign in this final week? Your $3 will fund last-minute outreach to the undecided voters we need to keep this district blue. >> [link removed]

We’re doubling down on the grassroots field campaign that won us this district in 2018. We’ve made over a hundred thousand calls, and hosted more than 240 virtual events.

But we need to keep our foot on the gas in this final stretch, and that’s what your donation today makes possible.

Thanks for being with me,

Mike
