Battleground Texas

Friend,

Last night at the Democratic debate in Houston I was filled with joy and pride seeing Texas shine before millions of Americans.

The energy in that room was iconically Texas-sized, and everyone there seemed to recognize what we’ve known for a long time: Texas is no longer the Republican stronghold it once was.

Yesterday started off strong for us with Ted Cruz, of all people, declaring that Texas is a battleground state! As we gathered into the auditorium for the debate, DNC Chair Tom Perez kicked things off by assuring everyone that Texas is a battleground state. And shortly after, the debate opened with Julián Castro pledging to “finally turn Texas blue”.

If we want to cement this status, we need to keep up the work on the ground -- registering more voters, reaching out to our communities that have been intentionally disenfranchised for so long, and getting new and diverse voices out there to run for office.

And that’s exactly the work we’ve been doing here at Battleground Texas. Right now, we’ve got a goal to register 250,000 voters -- including 146,000 young voters and 131,000 voters of color -- but that can’t happen without your help.

Can you chip in whatever you can right now to help build the voter registration effort that’s needed to make Texas more competitive for Democrats for the long haul?
