GOV. LUJAN GRISHAM TAKES ANOTHER DIG AT NEW MEXICO OIL AND GAS WORKERS WITH PARTICIPATION IN UPCOMING BIDEN ANTI-FOSSIL FUELS EVENT

GOVERNOR’S DECISION DISGRACEFUL AS SHE SENDS STRONG MESSAGE SHE’S TURNED AGAINST NEW MEXICO’S CRITICAL ENERGY INDUSTRY

ALBUQUERQUE, OCTOBER 28 — Last week Joe Biden declared war on oil and gas.

Tomorrow Gov. Lujan Grisham will show her disdain for New Mexico’s vital oil and gas by participating with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and others in a virtual event intended to reinforce the strategy of ending oil and gas jobs across the country.

Such a policy will be devastating to New Mexico, which relies heavily on big money from the oil and gas industry to pay for things like education, law enforcement and healthcare.

The governor’s participation is an insult to New Mexico and its citizens as she, along with Joe Biden, continues to target our important oil and gas industry for destruction in the name of “clean energy.” The governor again turns a blind eye to her own state.

The oil and gas industry fuels New Mexico’s economy, providing more than 100,000 direct or related jobs and generating 40% of the state’s revenues. Every state government program here gets 40% funding from oil.

“Joe Biden told the world he wants to get rid of the oil industry and it’s abhorrent that our own Governor agrees,” said Larry Behrens, Western States Director for Power The Future. “Gov. Lujan Grisham has delivered massively high unemployment along with the fewest energy jobs in a decade, so it’s clear why she is working so hard to get a new job. She simply doesn’t want to have to look New Mexico’s energy workers in the eye and be accountable.”

It was just last month that Gov. Lujan Grisham took part in a U.S. Climate Alliance gathering where she said flatly: “We need to transition out of fossil fuels.”

“It’s absolutely stunning that the governor puts politics and her own personal agenda ahead of what’s good for the people of this state,” said Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce. “She wants to destroy an industry that’s the heartbeat of our economy. Oil and gas pays for things like police, schools and teachers. It’s amazing how the governor will neglect her constituents and kill livelihoods for the sake of political gain.”
