Were you watching the debate last night? A new Republican PAC ran an attack ad on AOC during a commercial break — where they burned a picture of AOC and tried to link her to the Khmer Rouge.

In an era where the Squad members are facing more right-wing hatred than ever before, allowing this to happen is brazenly irresponsible and utterly disgusting. But are you surprised? The ad ran on primary Sinclair affiliates — the same station that has been airing must-run segments based on Trump-aligned propaganda.

The PAC itself is just a propagandic front falsely claiming that Republicans are making efforts to recruit younger, more diverse candidates. But we know the truth. The Republican party only cares about looking like they center the concerns of the working-class people of this country.

But when they actually get power, they elevate xenophobic rhetoric, pander to racists, institute massive tax cuts for billioinaires, and try to take away our health care. They’re fighting to preserve every hierarchy in this country, and to hoard power in the hands of an elite few.

That’s what we’re up against, and here’s how you can fight it. Justice Democrats is working with young, progressive, diverse leaders from across the country — connecting them with the resources they need to run, and doing everything in our power to help them defeat conservative Republicans, and out-of-touch incumbents. Over the course of the next year, the GOP offensive will only get worse. It’s obvious that they have no real platform that will energize voters from coast to coast, so their only tactic is stoking fear: over ‘socialism,’ immigration, and so much more.

That’s why we need to remember the positive vision that we’re fighting for. One that includes Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, an end to Trump’s inhumane deportation regime, a $15 minimum wage, and a progressive future for all.
