Dear Friend,
The nation’s eyes are on Colorado.
We can’t flip the Senate in 2020 without a Democratic win in Colorado. And incumbent Cory Gardner - the so-called “common sense conservative” who’s consistently sided with the current administration rather than fight for Coloradans - represents a system that favors upper-middle class white men who don’t represent the diversity of this state or this nation.
I decided to run for U.S. Senate because to fix a broken system, we need fighters with the courage of their convictions who won’t back down once the pressure is on.
Three democratic candidates dropped out within two weeks of John Hickenlooper entering the U.S. Senate race. Yes, we face tough challenges. That’s why we need a fighter who has the grit, tenacity, and courage to fight against the odds.
I am that fighter.
That’s why Hickenlooper entering our race does not change why I’m running or the type of campaign I am running. Our campaign is a reflection of the broader, statewide movement for new, representative voices in the Senate. I will continue to fight through the systemic barriers that keep middle- and low-income people of color from running for office. I will continue to fight to make sure we have representation.
I believe in a just and equitable society. I am prepared to fight on behalf of my values - on behalf of progressive values. And, as the only LGBTQ+ candidate left in this race, I believe I am uniquely qualified to represent Colorado because I am keenly aware of the issues facing not just our community, but so many of our communities who need an advocate in the Senate.
The trick is reaching everyone. So, I need your help to stay in this race.
I am asking you to step up, publicly reject the status quo, and help me stay in this race for the sake of all Coloradans.
Can I count on you to pitch in $25, $50, or even $100 so we can reach more voters and share our vision for a better, more equitable future?
I can’t thank you enough for your support. Let’s do this - together.
Sincerely,
Lorena
