John,
Election Day is less than a week away, and there is still an urgent need for volunteers to help all Americans safely cast their ballots and have them counted. Your help in recruiting and mobilizing volunteers—or serving as a volunteer yourself—will make a huge difference and bring turnout to historic levels.
Below are some opportunities for training and getting involved:
TRAINING
Bearing Witness Voter & Volunteer Training, October 29 at 6pm EST
The League of Women Voters of the United States is providing a Bearing Witness training tomorrow at 6pm EST to prepare voters and volunteers to handle voter intimidation at in-person polling sites.
ELECTION PROTECTION
Nonpartisan Election Protection volunteers are voters’ first line of defense against restrictive election laws, coronavirus-related voting disruptions, or anything else that could silence their voices.
BILINGUAL VOLUNTEERS
Bilingual volunteers are especially needed to support the Election Protection hotline, where voters can get answers to their questions about voting and receive assistance in multiple languages via voice call and text message. No prior experience required. Volunteers will be provided with the necessary training.
If you are interested in volunteering for a bilingual hotline, sign up via the links below:
VARIOUS ROLES
There’s a role for everyone—whether it’s helping voters from home, assisting voters safely in person, or tracking online disinformation. Volunteers are needed in the following areas:
• Poll Monitors: Poll monitors are provided PPE to support voters at the polls in person, where you’ll answer questions and connect voters who are denied their right to vote to voter assistance hotlines. Sign up here.
• Roving Poll Monitors: Use a checklist to drive—or bike!—between polling places to check poll preparation, ADA compliance, signage, lines and more. Report back to your state headquarters when you run across problems. Sign up here.
• Election Protection “Hotline Lead”: The Hotline Lead supervises volunteers who answer calls and monitor the hotline call intake platform. Sign up here.
• Tech Captains: This new role allows volunteer staffers to focus on the substantive, nuanced issues associated with operating a remote volunteer hotline while ensuring we can prepare and support volunteers with a variety of technological proficiencies. Sign up here.
• Social Media Monitors: Identify voters experiencing problems voting by checkin social media channels like Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, and Nextdoor. Report misinformation, connect voters to support hotlines, and answer questions. Sign up here.
• Voter Contact: Proactively reach out to voters most likely to face barriers at the polls and provide them with accurate polling information and connect them with legal resources. Sign up here.
Volunteers are especially needed in the following locations:
• Arizona: Maricopa
• California: Riverside, San Bernardino
• Florida: Broward, Miami-Dade
• Georgia: Chatham, Gwinnett
• Illinois: Cook, Sangamon
• Maryland: Baltimore
• Michigan: Wayne

• New Mexico: Cibola, Otero
• Nevada: Clark, Reno
• New York: Bronx, Richmond
