Hi friend --

Congressman John Lewis, a civil rights hero, passed away over three months ago, and we STILL have not properly solidified his legacy by reinstating the Voting Rights Act.

The Voting Rights Act of 1965 prohibited voting access discrimination and required that state and local governments get prior approval before enacting any legislation that would suppress the Black vote. It had been reauthorized five times -- until 2013, when a conservative court rolled back all protections. The supposed reason? The preclearance formula was unconstitutional -- Congress had to make the case again that voter discrimination remained a problem to maintain such protections.

But that still hasn't happened -- over 7 years later.

Listen: These actions are absolutely disgraceful. This election has proved beyond doubt that voter suppression is alive and well, and that millions of our most marginalized citizens are being prohibited from exercising this sacred right.

The John Lewis Voting Rights Act was passed by the House in 2019. Now, it's up to us to put pressure on the Senate to reinstate this law NOW. There is truly no time to waste, so we must know TODAY whether you're joining the fight with us. Let us know:
