At the end of September, Governor Newsom signed the California Ecosystems Protection Act (AB 1788) into law, significantly limiting the use of super-toxic rat poisons to protect the state’s native wildlife from unnecessary suffering and death.
Tofurky Files First Amendment Challenge Against Louisiana Label Censorship Law
The Good Food Institute and Animal Legal Defense Fund filed a lawsuit on behalf of Tofurky challenging a Louisiana law intended to disadvantage plant-based products. The law would impose fines of up to $500 per day for every plant-based meat product marketed or sold with terms like “burger” and “sausage” on their labels.
