We published a new resource by our Chief Clinical Operations Officer, Dr. Tia Dole, about supporting LGBTQ youth around the upcoming presidential election. The resource includes tips for how to cope with intense emotions, take care of yourself, and approach difficult political conversations with people in your life. It also provides nonpartisan guidance on how to vote safely amid COVID-19.

We published a new research report that examines mental health indicators and suicide risk factors among Black LGBTQ youth, including negative interactions with law enforcement, conversion therapy, housing instability, food insecurity, and barriers to mental health care.

** 📜 988 officially becomes law
------------------------------------------------------------

The National Suicide Hotline Designation Act was officially signed into law! Starting in July 2022, Americans will be able to dial ‘988’ to reach the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline instead of the current ten-digit number. The law authorizes the funding mechanisms needed for 988 to be successful and requires consideration of specialized services for high-risk groups like LGBTQ youth.

** 💜 Celebrating Asexual Youth #AceWeek

October 25-31 is Asexual Awareness Week aka Ace Week, a week dedicated to celebrating the asexual community. While not everyone who is asexual wishes to be part of the LGBTQ community, LGBTQ youth who are asexual are an often-overlooked group. To mark the occasion, we published a new research brief that explores identity labels and mental health indicators among asexual youth.
