Dear John: Today marks six days until Election Day, but make no mistake: Every day between now through November 3rd is Voting Day. By all counts, we are on track to break records. More than 71 million people have already voted early, either by mail or in person. Nationally, this number represents more than 50 percent of the total vote counted in 2016, according to the United States Elections Project. We don’t need to share again all of the reasons why this election is so critical. We do need to share an important update. Because we are now within one week of Election Day, everyone—from the USPS to nonpartisan voting organizations—is saying the same thing: It is now too close to Election Day to vote by mail. Not to worry, though! If you have a mail ballot you can: - Drop it off with state election officials;
- Drop it off at a polling place, either at an early voting location or at your polling place on Election Day;
- Drop it off at a designated drop-off location; or
- Place it in a legal ballot drop box before or on Election Day.
Read this helpful article about your many voting options. And if you haven’t yet made your plan to vote, it’s time for you to figure out how you’ll vote in person, either early or on Election Day. Our PFLAG Votes 2020 resources are always available to you at pflag.org/pflagvotes2020. Pay close attention to the Voter Protection resources, which are becoming an increasingly important aspect of this election process. If we can be of assistance, in any way, do not hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected]. We are here to help, however we can, as we all work together to raise our voices by casting our votes. Thank you for engaging in this most important moment. Lives are depending on it. Brian K. Bond, Executive Director PFLAG National |
