In case you missed it: Newsday reported that Donald Trump said he expects to win Long Island by a “landslide.” Mr. President, not on our watch.
Trump knows how much outside Republican money is pouring into this race to protect him and his far-right darling Lee Zeldin. The libelous attack ads against me increase by the day -- and we know more are coming in these last six days of our race.
Donald Trump, his family, and his campaign have all made it a point to campaign throughout Suffolk County. They know they won NY-01 in 2016, but the fact is, our district supported President Obama twice before that. And according to the most recent data, Biden has a lead here!
But John, my race against Lee Zeldin is very close, with the latest public poll showing we are within striking distance of defeating Trump’s most loyal ally on the Island.
Under Trump's leadership, families on Long Island have witnessed our representative in the House align himself with the far-right of his party and demonstrate his unyielding loyalty to this corrupt and incompetent president. And we know voters have had it with the hyperpartisanship in Washington.
In comparison, The New York Times reported that with my background as a climate activist and scientist, I would make a "refreshing addition to a Congress filled with lawyers."
The data show that our strategy is working -- and it's people like you who have helped us run a powerful campaign centered on facts and reality. Growing into a lead over the next 6 days won't be easy, but my team has a plan to reach hundreds of thousands more voters before the polls close on November 3.
We're about to make a major investment into our digital ads program in the last few days, spending upwards of $26,000 a day to persuade the remaining undecided voters with my pro-science message, and to make sure that our supporters have a plan to vote.
At the same time, Zeldin and his far-right allies at the NRCC, CLF, and AAN are pushing false propaganda because they know we can win.
