Courageous Patients and Physicians Speak Against Physician-Assisted Suicide
At Wednesday's hearing in St. Paul, patients and doctors had the chance to make their opposition to physician-assisted suicide known. Stephanie Packer, a California woman suffering from terminal lung disease, spoke about her experience in a state that has made physician-assisted suicide legal. In the aftermath of legalization, her insurance company stopped covering several of the expensive medications that allow her to live with her disease - but when she asked about physician-assisted suicide medication, she was told it would be covered, with a co-pay of $1.20. This grotesque imbalance, where impatient doctors and money-hungry insurance companies work together to exert pressure on patients to end their own lives, is one of the many scenarios we want to avoid by keeping it illegal for a physician to assist in ending someone's life.
Thanks to the many Minnesota Family Council supporters and allies who joined us for the hearing - together, we showed Minnesota politicians that there are people across the state standing up for the dignity of human life at every stage, and that we will not be silenced!
The Magical Disappearing Gay Gene
For years there has been ongoing debate about whether or not same-sex attraction is genetic, including speculation over the possible existence of a “gay gene.” When a study was released this week by Science magazine, many sources reported that this study has resolved the debate. The problem? Depending on where you look, commentary on this study either claims that the study unequivocally proves that same sex attraction is genetic, or insists that the study forever puts to rest that claim. Who should we believe?
What you should know about the study:
Lead study author Andrea Ganna stated, in light of her findings, that “There is no ‘gay gene.’” The study found genetic patterns that indicate that same-sex attraction has a genetic component, there was no evidence of a single gene that determines a person’s sexuality. The study found that genetics could explain 8-25% of sexual behavior. In other words, genetics do not explain at least 75% of a person’s sexual behavior.

Maplewood Schools Consider "Gender Inclusion" Policy
ISD 622, which covers Maplewood, Oakdale, and North St. Paul, is considering a radical "Gender Inclusion" policy that would put students' and parents' rights in jeopardy. Minnesota Family Council is working to make sure that this district, and others across the state, PROTECT student rights.
Two parts of Maplewood's proposed policy are especially concerning:
First, the policy states that "students may use the restroom, locker room, or changing facility that corresponds with their gender identity, rather than their assigned sex." That means male students using spaces intended for female students - a clear violation of student privacy.
Second, the policy states that "District communication to parents will use the student’s legal name, pronouns, and gender as established by their official records, unless otherwise specified by a support plan," while using the student's "preferred pronouns" at school. That means school staff would deliberately hide a student's decision to identify as transgender from his or her parents - a clear violation of parents' rights.
We wanted to share this with you because we know you want to affirm God's design for sex and gender ("Male and female he created them") to be reflected in our schools and workplaces, instead of the confused norms our society has created. Please pray that ISD 622 school board would reject this proposed policy at their September 24 meeting!
And if you live in a different school district, be vigilant about the policies of your schools regarding gender identity. Let us know right away if you hear that your district is considering or has adopted a transgender policy that violates students’ privacy rights or parents’ rights.
Our Parent Resource Guide, highlighted below, is a valuable resource for combatting such policies in your schools.

will be speaking about abortion and the importance of being vocal about this
issue. She will cover some of the history of abortion and why it is at a
crucial point for abortion and pro-life laws. She hopes to spread her burning
passion for the unborn to others and explain why feminism, which is a major
proponent of being "pro-choice," has no place in society today.

The Impact of Social Justice on the Gospel (Free Event - September 15th)

Sunday, Sept. 15, 2019, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM Grace Church (Chapel), Eden Prairie
He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8
“It’s my conviction that much of the rhetoric about this latest issue [social justice] poses a more imminent and dangerous threat to the clarity and centrality of the gospel than any other recent controversy evangelicals have engaged in.”
That’s quite a statement from pastor John MacArthur about the hottest topic in the church and mainstream society—social justice.
Sadly, a great division in the Evangelical church has formed over the issue of social justice. One side sees the pursuit of social justice (i.e. working to rectify perceived social inequalities related to ethnicity, gender, privilege, sexuality, economics, and immigration status, to name a few) as inexorably leading to a neglect of the Great Commission to make disciples first and foremost.
The other side sees social justice as an implication of the gospel (i.e. “Social justice is a gospel issue”). In other words, Christians are to preach the gospel while working for equity in society as well.
So which side is right? The question we need to ask is: What does the Bible say about social justice and what was the example of Jesus and the early church?
Join Grace Church Eden Prairie for this event on September 15th.
Protect Kids: Stop Comprehensive Sex Ed - Rally September 22 (Child Protection League)
Child Protection League Presents
PROTECT KIDS RALLY
Sunday, September 22, 1:30pm
At the State Capitol
A bill that will greatly harm our children (Bill HF1414) is currently being pursued in Minnesota. This is a radical movement to normalize all gender identities, teach how to have sex without the boundaries in marriage, and encourage sexual behavior that will harm children and young people long term. In 2019 MN House Bill HF1414 was passed by House Democrat majority that mandated Comprehensive Sex Eduction (CSE) in every MN School District. Although it was defeated in the Senate, CSE proponents have promised to keep the pressure on to force this mandate on all preK-12 public/charter school students in the State of Minnesota and beyond. We must stand together in full force.
Speakers at the rally include California’s Karen England, Executive Director of Capitol Resources Institute. She brings a message from California families who are battling the same horrifying curriculum in their classrooms and will describe what Minnesota can expect if HF1414 passes. California passed a similar mandate a few years ago.
Please pass on information to people in your area to RAISE THE WORD about this dangerous legislation and about the upcoming rally put on by Child Protection League, an allied organization of Minnesota Family Council
