I know I’ve reached out before, but as the election comes closer, I wanted to talk to you again about my Congresswoman, Representative Carolyn Maloney.

My name is Peter Morley, and I am a patient advocate. I currently live with over ten pre-existing conditions, including Lupus, and I’m a 2-time cancer survivor. In the past ten years, I've had 4 spinal surgeries, 2 brain surgeries, and 1 kidney surgery. I receive frequent medical care to manage my health — and to survive.

Throughout my own healthcare journey, I've had a lot of experiences with our broken healthcare system. That's what inspired me to become a patient advocate. I've traveled to the capitol 32 times to fight for more accessible, more affordable, and higher quality healthcare.

When I meet with elected officials, I'm not just telling my story but the stories of those like me who live with chronic illness and pain, pre-existing conditions, disabilities, and other medical needs that our current system is failing to meet.

Since I first got involved with public advocacy, Carolyn Maloney has fought by my side and helped strengthen my cause. And having a fierce leader like her in Congress has made a huge impact on the work that I do.

Some of Carolyn's major accomplishments for our healthcare include:

-Co-sponsoring the Medicare-for-All Act of 2019 to ensure that every American has access to affordable healthcare.
-Co-sponsoring the Disability Integration Act of 2019, which prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities who need long-term services.
-Continuing to protect the Affordable Care Act to make sure that the 135 million people living with pre-existing conditions in America get coverage.
-Remaining dedicated to the expansion of Medicare by supporting bills like the Medicare Demonstration of Low Vision Devices Act of 2019.

Last year, Carolyn even came with me to the hospital for a blood transfusion. She truly cares about patients and constituents, and she's committed to ensuring that every American has affordable quality healthcare.

There are just weeks until the general election, and the GOP is throwing everything they've got at trying to dismantle the ACA and take away healthcare coverage for millions of Americans — including installing a Supreme Court Justice whose record includes criticizing the courts for upholding any part of this life-saving law.

We need to protect Carolyn's seat in Congress so that she can continue lifting up the causes that matter so much to patient healthcare advocates like me and so many others.
