Dear Learned Colleague,
Countries with pro-life laws, especially developing countries, are under intense pressure. Wealthy donor countries and organizations exert top-down influence, while locally-led organizations, funded by those same donors, generate bottom-up pressure and amplify a pro-abortion message that, in many cases, is very much a minority view.
This month's Definitions takes a look at one specific African country, Kenya, and explores how it has become a target for pro-abortion lobbying. The methods being used, and the debates occurring within the Kenyan government, are similar to the stories coming from many other countries in Africa and elsewhere in the world. Nevertheless, despite the pressure, there are hopeful signs, including Kenya's recent decision to stand with the U.S. government and over 30 countries to reject any international right to abortion.
Sincerely,
