Reminiscent of the Chinese Communist "struggle sessions" in the era of Chairman Mao, where citizens were publicly humiliated and forced to apologize for any perceived offenses to the regime, American CEOs and other organizational leaders are implementing programs that sound eerily similar. As John Murawski describes, employees have been participating in diversity training for years, but participation is no longer enough. Critical Race Theory calls for them to analyze their privilege, acknowledge their racism, and denounce their skin-color sins if they want to be successfully employed. Mao would be proud. Top-Down White Penitence Is Shaking Up and Roiling the American Workplace

A white physician working in Raleigh, North Carolina, says he has participated in multiple diversity training exercises — including two in the last two years — without a fuss. But he was taken aback when his employer, Duke University Health System, said this summer it will roll out a comprehensive strategy to purge the last vestiges of racism from the workplace.

The way it looks to him, Duke basically wants him to admit he’s a racist and repent.
