Friend,
On Monday – just one week before Election Day and after millions of Americans already cast their ballots – the Senate confirmed Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. We let Ruth Bader Ginsburg down. She spent her career fighting to protect our rights and she has now been replaced by an extreme, conservative justice who is openly hostile to abortion access.
Just hours after Barrett was sworn in, Mississippi filed a brief with the Supreme Court asking it to review its ban on abortion after 15 weeks. There are 16 abortion-related cases currently making their way towards the Supreme Court. There is so much at stake and we have to act now. We have to fight back.
Here in Massachusetts, we have the opportunity to pass the ROE Act to protect and expand abortion access. It is essential that we pass the ROE Act now to safeguard these protections in the face of federal attempts to chip away at our rights. We can’t wait any longer.
