A note about the USPS: With Election Day around the corner, it's critical to make sure every mail-in ballot is counted – and every voice is heard. That's why we wanted to make sure you have the latest updates on what Chrissy has been doing to save the USPS.

Our country is facing no shortage of crises right now, but the Trump administration just deliberately added another one: the U.S. Postal Service. We want to make sure you have the facts about what's happening with the USPS, what Chrissy has been doing to save it, and what you can do to help:

WHAT'S HAPPENING

As we approach Election Day in the middle of a pandemic, Americans are depending on mail-in voting to cast their ballots without risking their health and safety.

But the pandemic has left the U.S. Postal Service in urgent need of emergency funding to continue its vital services, which include delivering necessities like prescription medicine and Social Security checks to those most vulnerable to COVID-19 – in addition to processing mail-in ballots. Instead of rushing funds to the USPS at a time when our country is relying on this agency more than ever, President Trump is blocking them.

Why? Because the GOP realized that when more people vote, Republicans lose big races – and they don't want to lose the White House in November. Make no mistake: This is a threat to our very democracy.

WHAT CHRISSY IS DOING ABOUT IT

Chrissy believes the U.S. Postal Service is essential to our way of life, and she's been working tirelessly to save it. Here's what she's been doing:

✔️ Called for the resignation of the postmaster general – a top Trump donor – who has carried out the Trump administration's attacks on the USPS

✔️ Voted for $25 billion in emergency funding for the USPS, hazard pay for postal workers, and national vote-by-mail

✔️ Is working alongside Gov. Wolf in his effort to ensure all ballots postmarked by Election Day are counted

✔️ Supported Pennsylvania’s lawsuit to reverse disruptive USPS operational changes

✔️ Demanding the Treasury Department finally release the $10 billion loan authorized by Congress for the USPS in the CARES Act

✔️ Voted in Congress to pass emergency funding and a reversal of operational changes under the Delivering For America Act

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP

Keep the pressure on our elected officials. Tell them your story and let them know how you've been affected by the USPS budget cuts and operational changes. Your voice matters, and we all need to speak up.

Write letters to the editor. This is a great way to support those who are working to save the USPS and call out those who aren't.

Buy stamps. Every little bit of support helps, and you can even do it online.

Vote for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris this November. They've pledged to protect this essential service, and we need to make sure they win.

Together, we will win this fight to save the U.S. Postal Service – and our democracy along with it. Thank you so much for standing by our side.

There is so much work to be done,

Team Chrissy

Chrissy Houlahan is working hard to promote our values in the House. While she’s focused on the work, fundraising is the last thing on her to-do list, so we are asking for her: If you’re able, will you make a gift now? Every dollar will go toward protecting the Democratic House majority and making sure Chrissy wins in November.
