Friend -
Just now, one of Facebook’s chief overseers of anti-Muslim violence in India — Ankhi Das — abruptly resigned.
This good news comes days after Muslim Advocates and our partners at GPAHE released our groundbreaking report showing that Facebook is the world’s engine for anti-Muslim violence. In the report, we connect dozens of Muslim deaths and countless acts of violence to Ms. Das. Since its release, members of Congress have amplified the findings of our report, while advocates on the ground in India and around the world have been sounding the alarm for some time. Ms. Das’ resignation is a win for human rights.
To be clear, one executive did not cause all of the harm we found. Facebook is broken, and Muslims around the world are paying the price.
Still, today’s resignation proves that we have momentum and are getting results. We urge you to take a few moments to read about our findings and spread the word.
We have more work to do.
Thank you,

Hi, Friend -
For years, we’ve seen a consistent and troubling pattern: where there is anti-Muslim violence, Facebook is not far behind. We’ve warned Facebook repeatedly about how the platform is being used to organize and spread hate, but they refuse to take action.
We’re turning up the pressure on Facebook by releasing this new report, Complicit, that documents how Facebook drives anti-Muslim violence around the world.
With our partners at the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism, we looked at anti-Muslim violence and hatred in nine different countries and, sure enough, Facebook played an instrumental role in all of them — from the United States to Germany to China to India to Myanmar to New Zealand and beyond.
Our key findings: Facebook employs anti-Muslim staffers, supports brutal anti-Muslim regimes and is the organizing tool of choice for anti-Muslim violence and genocide around the world.
Facebook knows about this and has vowed to take action publicly, but has privately decided to keep riding anti-Muslim bigotry for profits and to curry favor with bigoted authoritarian regimes.
Will you read and share this groundbreaking report?
Mark Zuckerberg recently said, “There are a lot of things that I think that people say that are deeply offensive … [W]here I think that we should draw the line is around when something has the likelihood to contribute to real-world violence or harm.”
Except for Muslims, apparently. We can’t let them do this to us anymore.
We need action. If not from Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg, then from policymakers around the world. Let’s demand the dignity we deserve.
Sincerely,
Naheed Qureshi
