Brian has come so far since then: he learned to walk again, he dedicated himself to God and became a Christian, we had 3 more beautiful children, he graduated from Harvard, and he earned the support of our community to represent us in Congress.
But as a wife, you still worry. Violent mobs are threatening the safety of communities all across the country. They are terrorizing individuals who don’t agree with them, attacking police officers and looting small businesses. Brian’s opponent in this election has even suggested an “open season” on violence against conservatives.
Brian stood strong in the face of the mob earlier this year when they confronted him in the streets of Washington, D.C. He calmly answered their questions over yells and taunts. Then, he went on with his night. He was never worried about being a casualty of war because he knew he was serving a cause greater than himself. It’s the same reason he doesn’t worry about becoming a political casualty now.
I won’t lie: the attacks and political spin are often hard on our family. Over the years, we’ve heard some doozies, but I know Brian’s character, and he always rises above it. So, despite what it means for our family, I also know that we need to help Brian defeat his hateful, violence-inciting opponent.
