These companies are spending millions lobbying Congress. We need to fight back.
John
Big Tech is spending unprecedented amounts on lobbying this year to stop Congressional efforts to hold them accountable.1
Just in the third quarter:
Google spent more than $1.9 million in lobbying
Apple spent $1.6 million
Facebook spent $4.9 million
Amazon spent $4.4 million on
These companies were spending millions of dollars lobbying Congress at the same time their CEOs were called in for Congressional hearings and asked about antitrust, data privacy, and workers rights.2
But now that the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Antitrust released its report that found all these companies are anti-competitive, and the government is suing Google for this behavior, there is no question these companies are going to spend even more to put an end to the scrutiny and continue their flawed business-as-usual.3,4
We need to fight back against this surge in spending to hold these companies accountable and build grassroots power to counter their influence over Congress.
