John — We have good news and bad news.
Good news first: Nearly 3 million Georgians have already cast their ballot! That’s over 40% of all registered Georgia voters.
But the bad news: Voters are still facing barriers to making their voices heard — particularly Black and Brown people in our state. Some people have waited in lines of up to 10 hours at polling places across Georgia. The lines were so long one day that disaster relief organizations were cooking food for voters as they wait.
If Georgia Republicans have their way, this kind of voter suppression will make it too hard for people to vote and could hand this seat back to Karen Handel.
So far, the media is reporting that the early vote appears to favor Democrats, and that means our opponent and Washington Republicans are going to get more and more desperate in the final week to stop us from voting.
Remember, Karen Handel was the original architect of Georgia’s voter suppression schemes as Secretary of State — when she was found to have violated the Voting Rights Act by the Obama Justice Department.
Karen and her far-right allies will spend and say whatever it takes to defeat us, so we must be ready to fight back. We cannot take anything for granted in Georgia.
Thank you so much for your support. If everyone contributes whatever they can, we’ll keep Lucy in Congress fighting for us and help elect Democrats up and down the ballot in Georgia.
