Now that they’ve added a justice, here’s what we’re all about to lose.

Friend: Last night, while millions of Americans faced yet another dark night without pandemic relief, Mitch McConnell and Republican senators rammed through the lifetime appointment of a new Supreme Court justice. What’s more:

They did it without a single vote from their Democratic colleagues.

They did it just eight days before the polls close in a national election and two weeks before their lawsuit against the Affordable Care Act comes before the Court.

And they did it fully conscious that Amy Coney Barrett’s record signals that she will cast a vote to strike down the ACA completely.

That’s been their plan from the start. And when McConnell and his allies get their way, here’s what that will mean for the rest of us:

  • 55,000 Kentuckians will lose their jobs—3% of our workforce.
  • 486,000 Kentuckians will lose their health care, and the number of uninsured folks will triple.
  • Over 100 million folks with pre-existing conditions across our country could lose coverage—during a pandemic.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that Mitch’s own constituents will be hit the hardest thanks to his maneuvering in Washington. Our estimated job losses will be second highest in the nation—and the increase in the uninsured population the third highest.

Thanks to Mitch’s abandonment, our state is already one of the sickest and poorest in the country. Now, thanks to his rush to win a partisan fight, it’s about to get even worse.

We’re going to be feeling the effects of what Mitch did last night for a long time to come. But the process of undoing this pain and suffering starts at the ballot box. One week from today, let’s make sure Mitch McConnell loses his job for good—chip in right now to make it happen.
