John,

One day my high school theatre teacher lifted my chin, looked me in my eyes, and let me know that I mattered. She said that I had something to say and that people needed to hear me.

That moment and her continued mentorship changed the course of my life. Mrs. Whiteside taught me the art of public speaking and most importantly, let me know that I had a voice that deserved to be heard.

I’ve since used my voice to advocate for educational equity because education was the great equalizer for me. I am a first generation college student because of public school educators like Mrs. Whiteside.

Mrs. Whiteside said she believed in me in high school and her faith made the seemingly impossible, possible. With your support and vote, I’ll continue to use my voice to fight for our educators and all workers across our state who make a difference everyday as North Carolina’s next Labor Commissioner.

I hope you’ll donate to help us keep important messages like this on air >> [link removed]] .

We have just one week left to reach more voters and cross the finish line to victory.

Sincerely,
Jessica Holmes
