Bears Should Be Safe in Wildlife Refuges

View this email in a browser. [[link removed]] [[link removed]]Dear John,

In July, I told you that the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) is planning on
opening Alaska’s Kenai National Wildlife Refuge to bear baiting – allowing even
more killing of grizzly bears. This plan flies in the face of the purpose of a
refuge, where all animals should be safe. Many of you submitted comments urging
the U.S. FWS to reject this proposed rule and protect Alaska’s bears from trophy
hunters.

The FWS has now reopened comments, giving advocates another chance to help
bears. If you haven’t submitted a comment urging the FWS already, please do so today

TAKE ACTION
[[link removed]]The proposed rule would rescind regulations that ban some of the cruelest
hunting methods on the refuge, including allowing the shooting of bears after
baiting them with food like donuts. The goal is to artificially inflate the
moose and caribou populations so hunters can kill even more animals.

Submit a comment to the U.S. FWS by November 9th and urge them to protect
Alaska’s bears from cruel trophy hunters

For the animals,
Kim Kelly
Director of Legislative Affairs
