In my life, I've learned how important it is to live by your values.

And after serving 26 years with the Navy, I know that values aren't demonstrated through words, they're demonstrated through action . That's why, instead of sitting on the sidelines and hoping for someone to come along and save our democracy from Matt Gaetz, I stepped up to stop him myself.

Because Matt Gaetz's actions show us how dangerous and unfit he is to lead. He's shown us that he values his celebrity more than his constituents by going on Fox News more times than he's hosted town halls in the district (and disseminating misinformation to boot).

He continues to downplay the severity of the pandemic to serve his political agenda -- calling for an end to social distancing, joking that drinking alcohol could protect people -- despite the fact that it's killed over 225,000 Americans. And we've seen that his proximity to power matters more to him than our Constitution because he'd rather protect Trump than our democracy.

He needs to be stopped -- and you and I can do it if we keep working as hard as we have been.
