Our democracy is being pushed to the breaking point with the Supreme Court ready to steal the election for Trump.
Common Dreams Home Page

Friend,

Last night, the U.S. Senate confirmed Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court, giving Donald Trump the majority he needs to steal this election.

Think that's hyperbole? It's not.

In 2000, the Supreme Court infamously halted vote-counting in Florida, handing the election to George W. Bush in one of the most indefensible and partisan decisions in the history of the Court. And the Court's right-wing majority has already shown that they are willing to do it again.

Last night, the five Republican-appointed justices voted to stop Wisconsin from counting mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day that arrive late. Given the huge number of mail-in ballots and the delays in mail delivery created by Trump Postmaster General Louis DeJoy, that one decision alone could disenfranchise tens of thousands of voters and tip the election.

Our democracy is being pushed to the breaking point. In this moment, it's absolutely crucial to have independent, nonprofit journalism free from corporate influence to provide timely and accurate information about Trump's efforts to steal the election.

We are pushing back against the Fox News propaganda machine that is working day and night to legitimize voter suppression and Republican court-packing, and we will never shy away from calling out the Supreme Court for attacking our free and fair elections.

But there's one big problem: right now, we're behind the pace in our Fall Fundraising Campaign. We receive no corporate advertising dollars and have no paywall. Instead, we rely on donations to keep the lights on and pay our staff, and we're counting on readers to chip in and meet our goal of $80,000 by November 2.

Please donate whatever you can to help meet our Fall Fundraising Campaign goal so we can provide the fearless coverage you count on in these dangerous times.
