This is the most important thing you can do.
If you’ve been engaging in this year’s election… thank you.
We've had an unprecedented number of supporters donating, texting, letter writing, and phone banking. We’ve been pulling out all the stops to make these last days count. But in the final push before Election Day, we need your help. Can you take five final actions to ensure we defeat Donald Trump?
Here are the five actions you can take in the final five days leading up to Election Day:
- Canvass in person: If you’re feeling like you want to hop in the car and drive to important counties in Pennsylvania to speak with voters directly... we hear you. We encourage you to check out Changing the Conversation Together's canvassing opportunities. Changing the Conversation Together is an organization of concerned citizens building a national corps of deep canvassers. Deep canvassing is a way to engage voters emotionally and is the most effective form of voter persuasion that’s ever been measured. You’ll have to get a COVID-19 test and sign up for a training, but person-to-person conversations are so rewarding and effective. There are shifts on each of the five days leading up to election day. Sign up for a canvassing shift! Or, search the internet to find one closer to where you live.
- Phone bank: We’ve been having some great conversations with voters through our partnership with NextGen North Carolina. NextGen is hosting phone banks from sunup to sundown on the final five days before the election. Sign up for as many shifts as you are able here!
- Text bank: If phone bank isn't your thing, you can also text voters in North Carolina through NextGen North Carolina’s Final 5 Text Bank. A few hundred clicks on your computer can help to remind hundreds of NC voters to get to the polls or return their mail-in ballots.
- Hang posters in your community: Want to do some work in person but can’t drive all the way to Pennsylvania? Print and hang these beautiful posters in your community. Print the color poster or a black & white version. Hang these posters in your favorite coffee shops, car windows, grocery stores — or drop them off at your neighbor's door!
- Contact five friends and make sure they’ve cast their ballot: Even if you have a clear plan to vote — or maybe you’ve already voted — some of your friends and family members may need a reminder. Compose an email or text and ask them if/how they plan to vote in this election! We recommend this language: “Hey, [friend's name]. Just wanted to make sure you’ve cast your ballot (or have a plan to cast your ballot) in the upcoming election! Have you voted yet?”
Donald Trump won in North Carolina by less than 200,000 votes. In Pennsylvania, the margin was even smaller. The election was decided by 40,000 votes. That's an average of just five votes per precinct. No action is too small. We have to do everything we can to get out the vote in the final push.
Let’s get out the vote.
