Conservative commentator David Brooks wrote a hell of an essay for The Atlantic earlier this month. What he describes sums up why we need to revolutionize both our politics and our economics.
Brooks is right when he observes there already was the political equivalent of an earthquake happening in America, and he's right again when he says that all the things we've dealt with in 2020 "were like hurricanes that hit in the middle of that earthquake." He goes on to say that "Trump is the final instrument of this crisis, but the conditions that brought him to power and make him so dangerous at this moment were decades in the making, and those conditions will not disappear if he is defeated."
Problems that have been growing for decades won't be solved in a week. But voting in this election will end in one week. We'll all have our work cut out for us after November 3, but for now we concentrate on doing everything we can to make this one week an important part of the solution.
Our Wisconsin Revolution aims to revolutionize our state’s politics and economics. At the heart of that mission is countering money power with people power. That means challenging corrupt, money-driven politics with grassroots action. One example of that is what we are doing tomorrow. Social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter have become an increasingly important and powerful way for political campaigns to reach voters, especially during this pandemic. Big money is being thrown at social media. Candidates, parties, special interest groups and even foreign actors pay social media platforms to boost their posts and reach larger audiences. Instead of orchestrating paid messaging we're organizing people to come together in a Zoom party tomorrow to collectively boost the posts of our endorsed candidates around the state.
Join us if you can.
Our Wisconsin Revolution depends on the financial support of regular folks. Take a minute right now to give what you can. You can help even more by making recurring monthly donations so we can count on a steady stream of income to sustain our work..
