What is a Hope Kit? Alliance For Children is committed to rescuing hope, restoring trust, and rebuilding lives for child abuse victims in Tarrant County. Our team strives to use every tool to help children heal and cope with any stressors and trauma resulting from the abuse they experienced. When children are experiencing increased stress and anxiety, our staff utilize "Hope Coping Kits" to help children regulate emotions and provide a tangible support. These Hope Coping Kits can be used in many aspects of our work including when a child is needing extra support prior to and during counseling services, or while testifying in court. We are thankful for a community of donors and volunteers who use their time and resources to create this additional support for the children we serve. What do these kits contain? Hope Coping Kits are designed to help children reduce anxiety and ground themselves. Various items such as fidgets, coloring books and stress balls can help a child concentrate nervous energy on a tangible item or activity. Many older children prefer to journal when experiencing anxiety, therefore a journal and pen are always part of the Hope Coping Kit. Each child is different, therefore we strive to have a variety of items to engage with children and meet their individual needs. Children who experience trauma may later have trouble with emotional stability and coping with stress. Our team works to provide these children with tools to help them cope, along with counseling and advocacy services.
