Dear John,
Sixty years have passed since my family fled Tibet to escape Chinese Communist oppression. I was a small child then. For my entire adult life, I have been privileged to work on behalf of my fellow Tibetans who all held on to hope of one day being able to safely return to our homeland.
During that time, I have learned that persistence matters.
Your persistence is helping to produce real progress for the Tibetan cause. Please keep up your good work by making a much-needed contribution to ICT today.

One example of your persistence paying off is the Reciprocal Access to Tibet Act. It took more than four years to get this law passed and nearly another full year for the US State Department to start enforcing it by denying visas to Chinese officials responsible for keeping Tibetans locked in, and Americans locked out, of Tibet.
Your continued support can help achieve another key success: making the Tibetan Policy and Support Act law and passing the United States’ biggest pro-Tibet legislation in years.
|

|
The Tibetan Policy and Support Act has passed the House of Representatives and now needs to be voted on in the Senate. Among other important provisions, this legislation would make it official US policy that only through Tibetan Buddhist process can the next Dalai Lama be recognized—not the Chinese government, as its Communist Party leaders are attempting to do.
But John, we need supporters like you to stand with us now so we can help bring change to Tibet. Keep pressure on US Senators to stand up for Tibetans by supporting our advocacy efforts today, and you’ll contribute to making peace and justice in Tibet possible.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama recently offered us this advice about persistence:
|
“We try, try… one fail. Again effort.
Fail. Again effort. That’s the proper way.”
|
As always, these are wise words to live by. Let’s keep working with persistence and compassion to help end China’s oppression of my fellow Tibetans.
Peace,

Bhuchung K. Tsering
Vice President
P.S. Our community of compassion depends on people like you taking action. Will you continue to make a difference today with your gift in support of ICT’s advocacy, reporting and empowerment programs?
