You probably know that my home state of Michigan is critical to defeating Donald Trump and keeping the Senate.

What you won’t hear on the national news is that my district, and a flippable congressional district where a great progressive is running for U.S. House, will be key to getting out the votes we need statewide.

In 2016, Donald Trump won Michigan by fewer than 11,000 votes. In my district alone, there were 40,000 people who voted in 2012 who didn’t in 2016.

In Michigan’s 6th district, where Jon Hoadley is taking on one of Big Oil’s top allies, another 37,000 people voted in 2012 who didn’t vote in 2016.

Jon and I are connected to our communities. We have targeted plans to reach critical voting blocs -- people of color, young people -- and bring the Democratic ticket across the finish line statewide. Can you donate strategically right now to our Get Out The Vote efforts in Michigan?

As a Michigan State Representative, Jon has fought to expand access to healthcare and to ban toxic chemicals—unlike the incumbent Republican he’s running against, who doesn’t think climate change matters and has fought the Affordable Care Act.

Instead of running as a corporate Democrat to flip a Republican seat, Jon is proudly for Medicare for All and the Green New Deal. And as the first openly LGBTQ+ person to run for Congress in Michigan, he’s facing brutal homophobic attack ads from Republican Super PACs.

But Jon’s race is close! And so is our statewide U.S. Senate race -- unexpectedly.
