John,
We are in the fight for our lives in these final 8 days of this election, with our health care on the chopping block like never before. Without taking a dime from corporate PACs, I’m counting on people like you to help fuel our campaign in this final week. But before I ask if you can chip in, I hope you’ll let me explain what’s at stake in our race for Washington’s 3rd congressional district.
When I was in seventh grade, my father fell ill at the same time my parents were opening their small business, John’s Fresh Produce. I missed school in order to help my mom get the store up and running, because the truth of the matter was, our family’s livelihood simply depended on the success of the business.
So when I heard that the Trump Administration officially asked the Supreme Court to invalidate the Affordable Care Act — in the middle of a public health crisis — I was infuriated.
Then, after the tragic passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, President Trump rapidly nominated a far-right judge to fill her seat on the Court, and Senate Republicans rushed her through the confirmation process, all so that they could have a conservative majority when the Court hears this case to repeal our health care just seven days after the election.
The fight to make health care affordable and accessible to everyone is personal to me, John. No family should have to struggle to figure out how they’re going to pay the bills while affording the care they need, whether it’s prescription medications, doctors and hospital visits, life-saving surgery, and so on.
The passage of the ACA ten years ago was the first step in expanding affordable health insurance coverage for Americans everywhere, and while it certainly has room for improvement, it doesn’t help that the GOP has relentlessly attacked it in Congress and the courts ever since, threatening the progress we’ve made.
That’s one of the major reasons why we need new leadership in the House. My opponent Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler has sided with her party in attacking our country’s health care system instead of working to improve upon it. She’s actually bragged more than 80 times about voting to repeal the ACA, but come election time, she’s promising to protect your care and protections for pre-existing conditions. She’s lying.
If I’m elected to represent Southwest Washingtonians in the House in 8 short days, I promise you I will not only defend the ACA, but will work to pass low-deductible public option health care that protects coverage for those with pre-existing conditions, as well as reduces the price of prescription drugs.
We need Congress to step up and save our care, and it’s clear Jaime Herrera Beutler isn’t the right person for the job. Will you help me fight for affordable, accessible care for all by pitching in $10 or more before our campaign’s final end-of-month deadline this Saturday?

Health care is on the ballot next Tuesday, and now is the time for us to come together and show politicians like Jaime Herrera Beutler that we won’t let them rip our care away, especially not during an ongoing public health crisis.
Thanks for everything you do to help send me to fight for you in Washington, D.C.
