John,
These are dark days for our country, but this is not the end. From Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to the Supreme Court to her confirmation in the middle of an election, what we have seen is a clear disregard for what the people wanted. [1]
Don’t let this behavior stand. Give now.
The shift on the Supreme Court sets a clear step backward for so many important issues including abortion, health care, LGBTQIA+ rights, racial justice and the right to vote, campus sexual assault, and more [2].
It’s okay to mourn. It’s okay to be angry. It’s okay to log off for a moment and check in with yourself. But know, the fight does and will continue.
It was never going to be easy. For years, overbearing Big ‘Pro-Life’ politicians and leaders have worked to close clinics, overregulate abortion pills, and pass ban after ban. They have screamed in the faces of people seeking abortion care and volunteer clinic escorts, threatened – and executed [3] – violence against doctors and staff who perform or assist on abortions, and told lie after lie about pregnancy [4] and people who have abortions. [5]
Reproaction has been there with cutting edge work, making life a living hell for the “pro-life” movement. And even though the battle to keep a conservative justice who will criminalize abortion, birth control, and fertility treatment off the Supreme Court is over, the war for bodily autonomy for everyone continues.
This fight continues because of you: your time, your commitments, your donations.
Please take care of yourself over the next days and weeks. We look forward to fighting with you again when you’re ready.
Sincerely,
Erin Matson
Co-Founder/Co-Director, Reproaction
P.S. Abortion care is not Amy Coney Barrett. Abortion care is not Roe. Abortion care is committed individuals working for the rights of all people to create the families they want when they want them without shame or stigma. Join us in advancing that.
