After Barrett's confirmation

John,

It’s been a tough week, and it is only Monday. We’re right there with you.

Despite the threat that Amy Coney Barrett’s extreme ideology poses to gender justice, racial justice, economic justice, LGBTQ rights, and abortion access, and the enormous public opposition to her nomination, anti-abortion politicians have rushed her nomination through the process during an election.

Barrett’s confirmation by itself is truly terrifying -- and Trump’s three confirmations have drastically altered the balance of our nation’s highest court, setting the court on a collision course with the needs and rights of the vast majority of this country.

Now, I want to tell you what NIRH Action Fund plans to do in this new landscape.

We have always been laser-focused on protecting and advancing reproductive freedom on the state and local levels -- and this is even more important with an anti-abortion majority on the Supreme Court. We will continue to build political power with advocates, organizations, and elected officials in states and cities to elect candidates who fight for everyone’s right to control their reproductive lives.

We are invested in working with advocates on the ground to increase access for marginalized communities. We are a part of the Thrive NJ coalition which is pushing forward the Reproductive Freedom Act, legislation that would increase coverage for and access to abortion in New Jersey. On the local level, we have partners in Austin and New York City who have secured municipal funding to support access to abortion care.

Know that you can take action by supporting NIRH Action Fund as we continue to build political power at the state and local levels. And if you would like to blow off steam by calling and texting for reproductive freedom, we have a list of actions that you can take to activate voters in Arizona, Colorado, and Pennsylvania.

Take care of yourself,

Andrea Miller
President
NIRH Action Fund
