John,
In 2018, Texas made headlines. We elected the first Latinas to ever represent our state in Congress, expanded the electorate by record amounts, and changed the national conversation about who could and should run for office by putting some of the most diverse candidates in the country on the ballot. As one of those candidates, I am proud to be a member of the movement led by New American Leaders to change the face of leadership in our country.
Now, it's your turn to join us. [[link removed]]
On October 5, New American Leaders is launching Ready to Rise [[link removed]] , a new one-day training in Houston, Texas, and we want you there!

As a two time alumna of New American Leaders' programs, I can tell you that this training will be unlike any other you will take. You'll learn how to share your unique New American story, the elements of a successful campaign, and walk away knowing you can help put an end to Trump's anti-immigrant actions, stand up to the hate-fueled violence we saw in El Paso, and demand accountability from elected officials who continue to ignore their responsibility to protect our elections and strengthen our democracy.
Sound interesting? Then apply to Ready to Rise today! [[link removed]]
Looking ahead to 2020, we know that we need more #PeopleLikeUs -- people like YOU -- to serve on campaigns, organize our communities, and run for office in Texas and beyond if we want to create a government that works for and represents all people.
Please join me in showing that #PeopleLikeUs are the future of our democracy. Apply for Ready to Rise by September 20! [[link removed]] Hotel and registration scholarships are available, but going quickly so apply today! [[link removed]]
Yours in the movement,
Silky Malik
