John,

As of today, we have lost over 225,000 Americans to the coronavirus. 8 million Americans have been infected. 13 million Americans are unemployed.

And what is the priority for Senate Republicans and the Trump Administration?

Rushing through an extreme Supreme Court nominee just eight days before an election, when more than 60 million Americans have already cast their ballot.

Let me be perfectly clear: this is shameful, it's unprecedented, and it's the absolute height of hypocrisy.

There is so much at stake for every single American with this nomination - access to affordable health care, a woman's constitutional right to make her own health care decisions, equal access to the ballot box and the very safety and health of our planet.

Just seven days after the election - on November 10th - the Supreme Court will hear arguments in a lawsuit brought by 18 Republican Attorneys General and the Trump Administration that seeks to overturn the Affordable Care Act in its entirety. We know that Amy Coney Barrett has been hostile to the Affordable Care Act in the past. She could very well be the deciding vote in a case that would rip health care away from millions of Americans.

And as we see the worsening signs of the climate crisis - the catastrophic wildfires and destructive hurricanes, the more frequent floods and longer droughts - we know that the Supreme Court will hear a case related to the climate crisis next year. Despite the clear evidence of the climate crisis all around us, Amy Coney Barrett repeatedly refused to deny the plain and indisputable fact that climate change is real. She demonstrated that she will not be guided by science. And now, with her nomination, the very future of our planet hangs in the balance.

While we may not have the votes to stop her nomination tonight, we cannot - we must not - give up the fight. And, in the spirit of the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, let's make sure Donald Trump knows just how much we all dissent on November 3rd.

Keep fighting the good fight,

TC
