Friend—Did you see this email from last week? Voter
suppression tactics are popping up around the country, and we need to
keep a strong spotlight on these efforts to steal the election so they
can be stopped. Will you help us meet our Fall Fundraising Drive goal
and fund our election integrity coverage?

Friend,
Texas is one of the key battleground states that could determine not
just the outcome of the presidential election, but also control of the
U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.
And Texas Republicans are doing everything they can to make it more
difficult for people to vote, especially voters in heavily populated
urban areas.
First, Texas refused to allow voters concerned about COVID-19 to cast
their ballots by mail, one of the only states to do so. Then, when local
elected officials started setting up ballot drop boxes for early voters,
Governor Abbott restricted those drop boxes to one per county—despite
the fact that the biggest county in Texas is larger than the state of
Connecticut and the most populous county has more people than 25 states.
As the Harris County Clerk said, "They are doing everything they can to
keep people from voting."
But that's not all. In recent years, Texas has reduced the number of
polling places by more than 50%. Governor Abbott has invited true Trump
"observers" into ballot counting rooms to intimidate ballot counters.
And between now and the end of this election, there will undoubtedly be
more dirty tricks.
But voting rights groups are fighting back, and so are we. From now
until the end of this election, we will watchdog and call out every
instance of voter suppression. More important, we will tell you, our
readers, what you can do about it: join the volunteer opportunities,
protests, and voting rights organizations working to protect the
results.
We can't let Trump and his minions destroy our democracy. Will you make
a donation to meet our Fall Fundraising Drive goal of $80,000 by
November 2 and fund our election integrity coverage through Election Day
and beyond?
